Tough Love And A Valuable Freebie

Whew, what a day it’s been. I’m getting tired of shoveling snow. This has really been one rough winter this year.

For those of you who were around the last couple of days you probably noticed that I’ve changed my theme. I’ll probably be changing it once or twice more before I finally get settled in.

Yes, if you are looking at all that busy business to the right of this post; I am promoting some of Ray Johnson’s products. Mainly because of the type of man he is and his products are good and people are making money with him. I’m also supporting him because we share a common background of coming up from hardship. It’s not everyone who can overcome obstacles and adversity to make something of them selves in this world which brings me up to what I want talk about today.

Business…This is an Online Business

The word “business” can be scary to those who are coming online to make money. But it’s a word you must get used to because this is a business. You need to run it and treat it like one. You need to get organized. You need to understand the type of business you’re going to be setting up and prepare a business plan so you know what you are getting into, know why you’re doing it, and where you’re going.

I’m going to shoot straight with you here. If you aren’t willing to do these few simple but important things, then you may as well go get a job at your local fast food joint because you will never make it online or offline in a business for yourself.

If you do have the guts to go it on your own you have to be prepared to work hard and wait. Yes…I’m talking about patience. I don’t care what kind of shiny objects you’ve been looking at that are promising you all the riches of the world in a day or a week or a month. I’m here to tell you it just ain’t so! If it was, there would be no doctors, lawyers, teachers, cops, politicians etc. because they’d all have a website up on line that’s just killin’ it. When’s the last time you’ve seen that happening?

So…I’m really sorry to have to be the one to break it to you, but it’s gonna take some time.  I have to be straight with you because I only want true players hanging around my site. I told you last post this site is for the intermediates. If you are a beginner yes we can get you up to speed but there “ain’t going to be no pie in the sky” around here.

A month might pass, 6 months, a year or more.  But if you truly desire success online, you can’t give it a time limit and then quit. Quitting won’t be tolerated. You can set goals for yourself.  For instance you want to be making some comfortable dough in 6 months, but for some reason it doesn’t happen. Now you get all bummed out and feel like giving up. That’s not the time to be quitting!

What you need to do at that point is reassess your business, learn from your mistakes, and reset those goals again…and this time you have more experience to predict more accurately and you just may hit them the next time around.

If You Can Hold Out Money Makes It All Better

There are ways to shorten the time it takes. Everyone is going to have a different situation and advertising budget. If you have a lot of money to throw at your advertising, you can bring more attention to yourself quicker. You could buy an existing business. Or if you want to speed the learning curve you can invest in good eCourses, eBooks, or Coaches.

Everyone’s approach is different. You know what they say, time is money. It’s true.  If you spend more money, it will take less time to reach your goals. If you don’t spend the money, it will take more time…  but you can still reach your goals.

I was flat out broke when I started. I just kept reinvesting in myself and my business.

All You Need Is The Right Opportunity For YOU

Everyone’s different. There are a lot of variables involved. The opportunity must match you and your goals. For example my goal is to break into the IM niche. It should also be something your passionate about and completely committed to. I am very passionate about marketing. Sales and marketing have been my thing for the past 25 years. But! It isn’t all about you. The product or service must have the quality that the market expects and you must actually have a market.

We’ll have to talk about that another time. This post is already way too long. But before I let you go I have to remind you…I told you last post that I am starting at ground zero. No list, no connections, nothing but my desire to break into this crazy niche.

Well I want to share with you a software tool that I have been using for I’m guessing about four years now. You see…if you want to sell in this business you have to be able to communicate effectively. Copywriters don’t come cheap! Not good one’s anyway, so when you are starting out and learning the ropes, sales letters, blogs, squeeze pages etc. you have to have an edge. You see selling is all about communicating. Those who communicate best sell the most and make the most money. Get it?

Howdy fellow entrepreneurs! As you can see this is my first post on my new blog and I’m pretty excited about it because  for me, it’s the beginning of a journey into another new niche online.

If you didn’t guess already, I’m a niche marketer. I have been quietly making my living online for the past 4 years doing my niche marketing thing and I also do some freelancing as well. As a matter of fact I got my start in what is now known as the “offline business” craze by being an Internet Marketing Consultant helping small businesses actually  make  money with their usually boring websites or as I like to refer to them as “glorified overpriced online brochures.”

I’ll have to admit it’s been very tempting for me to break into the Internet Marketing niche for a while now. I have resisted it for a very long time as it is so much easier to make money in other lesser known niches which have far less competition with a lot less hype, but I’m here now and my plan is to share what I have learned over the years with you and maybe help some of you to make a full time living online as well with what I’m sharing.

Don’t think that just because I’m new in this particular niche that I don’t know my stuff either. I have studied this niche for quite some time now.  I see what goes on here and some of it I like and some of it I don’t really care for.  This will be elaborated on in future posts.

Why should you visit my site on a regular basis?

This site will be geared more towards the intermediate internet marketer.  There will be some stuff in here for newbies too but if you need to learn the basics like very basic html, how to put up a site or FTP  you’ll have to find another blog or website to help you out.

My focus here will be on the challenges that I see most IMer’s are having trouble with like affiliate marketing, building sales funnels, email marketing, web page promotion, web traffic marketing or just plain getting traffic. Of course I’ll also cover some niche marketing as well as some of the offline stuff that I’ve been into. My main purpose will be to help you out with the “knowledge” and give you the tools so that you too can make a full time living online.

I am starting out today at ground zero so this is a great time for you to be here as I sit with no list,  no SEO’d pages, no partners, nothing but you and I. You can watch and maybe learn a bit as we go through this adventure as I’m putting together and building an income in this niche.
